In this thought-provoking piece for The Scotsman, Rachel Weiss of Menopause Cafe charity sheds light on a critical yet often overlooked issue: menopause in the workplace.

Right now, many highly skilled and experienced colleagues are silently struggling with menopause symptoms. For some, debilitating symptoms like hot flushes and poor concentration make daily tasks difficult, leading them to cite stress, depression, or even a cold as reasons for their struggles - when the real challenge lies in menopause.

According to CIPD research (Nov 2023):
🔹 49% of employees never tell their manager that their absence is due to menopause symptoms.
🔹 67% of employers admit they have no support available.

The stigma surrounding menopause leaves many feeling they have no choice but to go part-time, decline promotions, or even leave their jobs - widening the gender pay and pension gaps.

Isn’t it time we took a proactive stance to create a more inclusive, supportive workplace? 🌿
