Terms of use


These terms cover your use of MHScot's online learning platform and learning community. If you buy a course for yourself, they also cover your course. If your organisation booked your place, their booking terms cover the booking, and these terms cover your use of the platform.

Your course



  • Our qualifications are First Aid for Mental Health (SCQF Level 5 / RQF Level 2) and Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health (SCQF Level 4 / RQF Level 1). Certificates are issued by the awarding body, First Aid Awards, through Nuco Training.

  • Each course has self-study on this platform, two live guided sessions on Microsoft Teams, and an individual assessment.

  • To qualify, you must attend both guided sessions, complete the self-study and pass the assessment.

  • If you miss a guided session for a genuine reason, we'll arrange one catch-up at no charge. Anything more is by agreement.

  • Your certificate is issued in your legal name, as it appears on your ID. It is valid for three years. To requalify, you take the full course again.

  • If you need an adjustment, tell us when you register and we'll talk it through with you.

  • Cancelling, refunds and moving dates are covered in our refund and cancellation policy.



Your account



  • Your account is for you alone. Please keep your login to yourself.

  • You keep access to the platform and the learning community after your course.



Our materials


The course content, manual and videos belong to MHScot, or we use them under licence. You can use them for your own learning. Please don't copy them, share them outside the platform, or use them to run training of your own without our written agreement.



The learning community



  • Be kind. People here share their own experiences.

  • What others share in the community stays in the community.

  • No advertising or selling, and no sharing other people's personal details.

  • We look after the community and may remove posts that break these rules. If someone keeps breaking them, or shares their login, we may pause or close their account. We'll tell them why, unless there's a good reason not to.



What the course is, and isn't


The course is education. It isn't therapy or a crisis service. If you need urgent help, contact NHS 24 on 111 or Samaritans on 116 123.



Your information


Our privacy policy explains what we collect and why. To issue your certificate, we share the details the awarding body needs with Nuco Training and First Aid Awards. You may receive occasional emails from our learning community, and you can unsubscribe at any time.



Our responsibility


We're not responsible for losses we couldn't have foreseen, or for business losses. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. None of this affects your legal rights as a consumer.



Changes and the law



  • We may update these terms. If we make a significant change, we'll let you know. The terms in place when you bought your course apply to that course.

  • These terms are governed by Scots law. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also use the courts where you live.
